Are you interested in finding out more about wildlife? If so, volunteers are needed to help with national or locally run surveys. Sometimes training is available as part of these but our calendar also has details of other training courses, which may help improve your species identification and survey skills. Use the search facility to choose between Surveys , Training , Events or Meetings , or search by date or keywords.
Our calendar is not exhaustive and we need you to send us details of relevant events to keep it up to date. You may also find details of other biodiversity related events on the Wales Biodiversity Partnership website.
Bookings are now open for the Cofnod Conference 2021. This is a free 'online' event, using Zoom and YouTube. The conference will be run over 3 sessions. We hope you can join us for all 3 sessions, or part of the day, to have the opportunity to engage with the interesting range of speakers we have on offer this year.
This year’s Conference will run between 09:45 and 16:00 (with breaks). However, you are more than welcome to join and leave anytime throughout the day (we don’t expect you to sit through the entire event, unless you’re really keen!).
Various wildlife walks, talks & events run by North Wales Wildlife Trust.
Please visit their website for more details.
Join National Museum of Wales for an evening of talks about Welsh wildlife.
We'll be hearing from people across Wales talk about their work studying, recording, and safeguarding our natural world.
There'll be a chance to ask speakers questions at the end of their talks. And look out for the nature quiz during the break!
The WOS national conference for 2021 will be a virtual event held hosted by the BTO on Saturday 6th November on Farmland and Birds in Wales, which was the theme chosen for the cancelled 2020 conference. There'll be a programme of presentations with the opportunity for questions and discussion, quizzes, the usual review from our President, Iolo Williams, and summaries of activity from the BTO and RSPB. The headline presentations will be by Ian Newton OBE (morning) and Gavin Siriwardena OBE (afternoon).
Please visit the WOS website for more information on how to book.
Wyn Hughes will introduce you to these fascinating protozoans. The course will cover their biology, sampling methods, photomicroscopy and identification. Their existence since the Cambrian has enabled their use for age and depositional environmental interpretation, and living forms are today being used as indicators of environmental health.
This course is organised by Cofnod. It is a rare opportunity to learn more about these fascinating creatures and examine some representatives of the UK fauna. The course is aimed at beginners, and no previous microscope experience is necessary.
Save the date!
This year's NBN Conference will take place online on Wednesday 24 November 2021.
The programme is being developed and bookings will open on 1 September, but for now, please save the date!
