Bookings are now open for Cofnod's Conference. The Conference will be the usual mix of talks from people passionate about biological recording and will be held on 7th November at Bangor University's Management Centre.

The next Menai Strait Partnership Forum (MSPF) meeting, takes place on the 7th of November at Marine Centre Wales from 18:30 to 20:30.

The meeting will include an update on the Forum's recent activities and a workshop to discuss future projects based on feedback regarding the key issues facing the Menai Strait. We will also have guest experts in attendance to share their insights.

Dung beetles are incredible ecosystem engineers and some of the most fascinating, hard-working and strongest creatures on planet earth. Is it their time to shine in the spotlight?"

Fascinating words from this year's Lacey Lecture guest speaker Dr Claire Whittle, dung beetle enthusiast and Veterinary Lead for ‘Dung Beetles for Farmers’ - an information hub describing the benefits of dung beetles in agriculture.

The field visits to record plants are led by Jo Clark and Heather Garrett, volunteer BSBI Joint Vice-County Recorders for Meirionnydd. We welcome beginner and more established botanists to join us, so please email Jo or Heather to register for our group emails giving joining instructions etc. We meet at 10am and usually finish around 3:30 pm. Bring your lunch, drinks, and wear clothing appropriate to the weather, season and terrain. Members attend at their own risk.

The 2024 Annual Conference will be held in Aberystwyth (same location as 2022 and 2023), on Saturday 16th November. The conference will showcase current project research across Wales by amateurs and professionals, with a focus on community-based conservation projects.

For the first time in the history of the NBN Conference, we will be travelling to the north west of England and will be holding it at:

Merseyside Maritime Museum in Liverpool on Thursday 21 November.

Cynnal Cymru – Sustain Wales are delighted to be offering free places on their Nature Wise Eco-literacy course to anyone who works or volunteers with a community group or third sector organisation. Town and community councillors in these areas are also eligible.

Nabod Natur - Nature Wise is an online learning programme which teaches how the natural environment works, the threats it faces, and how we can all help nature thrive.

Courses now available through the medium of Welsh.

Participants will learn how nature works and about the threats it faces. They will also develop action plans for themselves or their groups, using their knowledge for the benefit of wildlife and habitats.

Courses will run from April 2023 to August 2023, with participants joining two online sessions with a total time commitment of 5 hours. Those successfully completing the course will be awarded a certificate. Free places are available thanks to funding from Moondance Foundation.

We intend to reschedule many of these events later in the year (depending on future government advice), but some may have to be cancelled.
